The purpose of Stone Rehab’s Orthopedic Care and Recovery Program is to provide an interdisciplinary approach to the management of joint recovery and prevention of hospital readmissions.  The elite therapists at Stone Rehab provide exceptional Physical, Occupational, and Speech Therapies to improve physical function and independence while reducing the risk of progressive physical decline in those who have experienced a knee, hip, or shoulder joint replacement or fixation.

  • In 2012 alone, there were over 298,000 hospital admissions for hip fractures among people aged 65 and older.

  • More than 95% of hip fractures are caused by falling, most often by falling sideways onto the hip.

  • Falls are the second leading cause of brain and spinal cord injuries and are responsible for approximately 87% of fractures in seniors treated in emergency rooms.

Therapy is a critical component of the early recovery process following a joint replacement and is the key to a stronger, more lasting recovery. Working with a skilled therapist, joint replacement patients regain strength and increase activity independence over time. The efficacy and safety of exercise has been researched and documented in patients and shows that exercise training benefits persons recovering from a joint replacement or orthopedic injury.

Preoperative Rehab

Studies have found that preoperative physical therapy can reduce postoperative care for patients undergoing total hip or knee replacement. Researchers concluded that the benefit of preoperative therapy was derived primarily from the way the therapy session(s) prepared the patients for postoperative rehabilitation. Training on postoperative assistive walking devices, planning for recovery, and managing expectations were cited as beneficial components of Stone Rehab’s preoperative therapy program.

Stone Rehab’s intense therapy will help to maximize function and independence by creating a unique approach specific to each patient and their needs. Along with the clinical expertise of professional licensed therapists, our recovery program will identify those at risk of a decline in functional ability and will provide education and rehabilitation in order to bring the patient back to their highest functional ability.

In Stone Rehab, I was assisted by superb specialists providing techniques to resolve the post surgery trauma and several related illnesses.
